Orange Coast Cooler Show at Sycamore...

Lots of ESI riders took part in the Cooler show over the weekend at Sycamore, working on those last minute qualifications for the Year-End Championship show!

Starting with the pony riders - Aislyn and Majesty were in the ribbons in all their Walk/Trot classes, and she brought home the blue in both Equitation Over Rails and Under Saddle.
Shea on Lady and MaKenna on Ginger were cleaning up in the Short Stirrup and Pony Hunter Divisions, and MaKenna even piloted Ginger around to a third place ribbon in Pony Jumpers! Lady was Reserve Champion in Short Stirrup and Champion in Pony Hunters!

Gwen showed Zia in the Low AA and AA Hunters, collecting ribbons in both divisions, as well as showing in her first OCHSA Horsemanship Medal.

Audra on Fire, as well as Maddy on Remington and Concerto were continually in the ribbons in the Childrens/AA Hunters. And Maddy came back on her two in the Modified Jr/Amateur division, sharing ribbons with Melissa on Fiona and Jaime on Grace.

Melissa and Fiona were also in the ribbons in the Modifed Hunters, and Fiona, Concerto and Denmark swept the Working Hunter Division!

In equitation - Jaime and Audra brought home prizes in the open flat equitation classes, as did Ally her age group Open Equitation Over Fences. Audra won Saturday's OCHSA Equitation Class, and she, Ally, Melissa and Jaime were all in the ribbons in that class on Sunday. It was Jaime who brought home the top prize in the CPHA Childrens/Adult Medal, and Melissa won the Golden Horse.

On to the jumpers - Ansley and Casper were in the ribbons in Level 1, Level 2-3 (a blue) and Modified Jr/Amateur Jumpers. Ally rode Ladino to a ribbon in Level 2-3 and a first in Childrens Jumpers. She was also in the ribbons on Razz in Level 1, Level 2-3, Children's and the Modified Jr/Amateur class. New comer Shea Wigert placed on Wolfy in the Love 2-3, 3-4, and Childrens Jumpers. And, Maddy successfully showed Remington in Level 1, Leopold in Level 0, Level 1 and the Low Childrens, and then came back on Romeo with good ribbons in Level 3-4, Level 4-5, and a second place in the Mini Prix.

Congratulations to all our riders! (And apologies to anyone the Reporter may have missed...)

Day-trippin' to the Blenheim Fall Tournament...

Four of our jumper riders - Brandee, Britt, Kathryn and Kelsie hauled into Blenheim on Friday and then again on Sunday. We want to congratulate Kelsie on her 7th place in Childrens Jumpers, plus a 2nd place finish in the $1000.00 Childrens Jumper Classic on Sunday. And, Brandee also brought home a Classic ribbon on Sunday, placing 7th in the $5000.00 Jr/Amateur Owner Jumper class.

Nina Thornton on Horses and Riding...

Well to me, horses and riding are everything. I can not see myself or imagine what my life would be with out horses and riding. To me, riding is not just a sport or a hobbie, it a lifestyle, a choice, and a commitment. Horses and riding have taught me more than I have ever expected or belived possible, and they have always been there to guide me through my life. There are many reasons I love horses, however one of the biggest is because they are a guideline and something I know I will always have in my life. I have no idea where I would be now without horses, riding, and ESI; and I would like to thank them for helping me become the person I am today.

Nina. The Reporter owes you a better picture! We'll take care of that soon, promise!

The Reporter has been promised pictures from the Labor Day Gala. You know they'll get posted just as soon as they become available!

Kelsie Ornelas on Horses and Riding...

The question that was provided is quite the thought provoker. Therefore, I cannot answer it because I have no brains. So, with that said, I created a new question. The question is: Why do I love Ego? And that even though takes too much thought, I’m just going to go for it. Okay, here it goes: I love Ego because she saves my butt on jumps when I mess up in riding. Even though she paws, pins her ears, attacks everyone that walks by, runs me over while I’m washing her and gets me more wet than she is, and drags me to every piece of food on the ground I still love her. Yeah. I love Ego and I am very grateful to have her. She’s a mutt and I love her.
